A "God"incidence

Last night I got a text from a precious friend. I was totally blown away because what she texted me was what I'd studied at Bible study and shared with the ladies in my group.  When we have Bible study, we always joke that our pastors (all of us attend different churches) have been reading our studies.  Not sure how my friend got hold of it this week! It's one of those "God"incidences!
So here's the part of the text:
"While spending time in prayer for you I couldn't get this out of my mind, 'Rest in His sufficiency.'  We talked about how God always takes care of us & thought of you..."
When I read the text, I thought about how amazing God is and how this confirmed the things He's been trying (and hopefully succeeding) to teach me.  Earlier in the evening my Bible study finished up II Corinthians.  We talked about II Corinthians 12:9-10 NIV: "But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." I also shared with the ladies a couple of the devotions I'd read that deal with trusting God to be enough and take care whatever I need.  Wow!
So what am I going to do? REST IN HIS SUFFICIENCY!

Chemo Brain

When I started this go-round of treatment my oncologist said I might have some problems with memory and possible say some things that might not make sense.  My sis and I laughed and wondered how we would be able to tell what was chemo related and what was my normal self or what was simply me getting older. Okay...I think I can tell.
It's normal for me to walk into a room and forget why I went there to start with.  It's always been difficult for me to remember the names of three classes of students so I have to work hard to put names with faces.  In my girls small group at church I took pics of the twelve girls holding cards with their names. I've always felt it was important to know names. Sometimes I put things in a safe place and then forget the location of the safe place.
Now, I find I'll be talking and put a word in a sentence that totally doesn't fit in the sentence.  The word may start with the same sound and possibly end with the sound of the word I want to use, but it is not the right word.  Sometimes I loose the word completely.  [Last time my sis would grin and say, "We're playing the guessing game, aren't we?"]
Most times I can describe the word I want to use. This afternoon in Bible study I was talking about a memory when I was younger (Yay...I could remember!) and I couldn't remember a word I wanted to use, but could describe it. "It's two wooden sticks with ice stuff on them." Both ladies in my study guessed correctly: a popsicle.
I made a phone call the other day and couldn't remember why I called. The secretary was very sweet and waited patiently.  I remember why I called, but couldn't remember the name of the person (who I've known for several years) I wanted to talk to.  I was able to describe the person and the secretary knew exactly who I meant. Bless her heart for being so understanding!
I love my family and friends who are helping me deal with some of the craziness that goes along with the chemo.  I thank God for the people He's placed in my life to help me on this journey!

Book Review- FULL DISCLOSURE by Dee Henderson

Full Disclosure   If you know me, you know I'm an avid reader.  My favorite genre is suspense that I don't have to skip pages because of content I don't want to put in my mind. One of my favorite authors is Dee Henderson.  When I found the Facebook page for her latest novel Full Disclosure and received an Advance Reader's Copy to review, I was thrilled.  Here's my review:

Wow! Hard to put down!
Full Disclosure, Dee Henderson’s first novel in over five years will excite her loyal fans and create a new following of those who love great suspense.  “Midwest Homicide Investigator Ann Silver seeming appears out of nowhere and drops the best lead on a serial murder case that Special Agent Paul Falcon has had in years.”  As the two delve into their own cases, their paths cross and soon they realize they have something even bigger to work through…secrets and a relationship.  When I picked up the novel and started to read, I was pleasantly surprised to recognize the names of some of the O’Malleys from Henderson’s O’Malley series and felt like I was checking in with old friends.  The novel is a “stand alone” story, but those who read it and haven’t read any of Henderson’s previous books will want to read everything the author has out to date.  Yes, it’s a fiction book, but it also presents spiritual truths through the way the characters deal with life’s trauma without being preachy and giving the answers in a nice “everything is wonderful in the end” way.  Full Disclosure is on my gift giving list and has me getting ready to reread more of Henderson’s books.
